We took to the streets, tried new things, talked to people, opened our minds to new ideas and our soul to what excited us the most. So, if there are six things that have stuck with us, we share them with you hoping that you enjoy them as much as we did!

Reading: “Let the dead bury their dead” - Michalis Albatis

We are in the early 1950s. In a village in Crete, a child discovers that he has a superpower: he can hear the thoughts of the dead. At first, he is doubtful, but because of what happens at the funerals he attends, he is persuaded by his uncle to travel and offer his services as “interpreters for the dead.”

As they go to funerals from one village to another village, they begin to realize that each dead person has their own story and secrets, revealing truths about our existence…

Exploring: Ladadika

If you are a fan of good food, the historic Ladadika is probably the best area of Thessaloniki to taste its unique flavors.

Its secret ingredient? The pedestrian street.

Around it, you can visit the wonderful rock bars, find the best beer places, eat till you drop, have fun in the countless bars and clubs. Or simply sit by the fountain gazing.

After all, you are in one of the most beautiful cities and life is unfolding before you…

Proposing: Winona by Alexander Voulgaris (The Boy)

With four excellent actresses, Anthi Efstratiadou, Iro Bezou, Sofia Kokkali, and Daphné Patakia, the movie by The Boy constitutes a pleasant surprise in Greek cinema.

Apart from its interesting structure and flow, it has the potential to entertain, to play with our perception and to extensively highlight existential issues that have once preoccupied each one of us.

Obsessing: Lorqa – Oneiro

If you'd like to hear how traditional music is paired with electronic music, this is the song for you!

Anastasis Kotsinis, a musician from Greece who has been living in Brooklyn for many years, has managed to successfully create songs with these… in many ways mismatched genres.

We, however, listen to it on repeat!

Realizing: “A small gesture is enough to bring in a little light”

Maybe, after all, something small is enough to make someone’s day. In a world that insists on looking darker and darker, we choose to discern these little rays of sunshine. Glances, smiles, a simple good morning. Little moments that chase away the gray moments even on the bad days.

So, it takes something small to give this light. Because at the end of the day, when darkness has fallen, we are always looking for a few more rays of sunshine…

Tasting: NAKED (Filippou 62)

A new specialty coffee spot with a unique aesthetic came to the area of the Church of Acheiropoietos, to draw you in from the first glance.

A minimal space with excellent brunch options, it offers a more cozy vibe and great coffee!

This particular place, supporting the zero-waste philosophy, avoids the use of plastic and paper straws, which is surely appreciated!

The weekend is coming to you and the opportunities to say “yes” to new things are here. So, what do you say? Should we go and make our own rays of sunshine from what we’ve recommended?
