Weekly Report/ Part 4

Recommendations

A poetry collection with the view of the Walls of Thessaloniki, a street art project with a unique soundtrack, the need to consume food in two entirely different ways. This week had connections and contrasts, similar and dissimilar elements. It had longing for something new and the familiar touch of something known, it had art, different flavors, experiences, and life.

Shall we go over our recommendations?

Reading: Κανένα φτυάρι δεν έθαψε την άνοιξη” [No shovel has buried spring] - Zafeiria Mol

This poetry collection showcases in the most appropriate way the expressive power of the writer. Through the lines and the words, the writer seeks her own voice, to use it to express desires, pain, and challenges, while becoming a “guinea pig”, to better understand others.

With her words, she opens a door to womanhood, highlighting the contradiction of the word “girl” in everyday life.

Exploring: Walls of Thessaloniki

The habit of our student years, the place where we let ourselves dream.

To get to our favorite walls of Thessaloniki, you walk through the Upper Town (Ano Poli) with its beautiful streets and traditional houses; there the world around you is simpler and more beautiful. Every now and then, you pause to admire from above a city like you’ve never seen it before.

After reaching the Heptapyrgion, the entire city of Thessaloniki is on your feet: the Rotonda Monument, the university campuses, the region of Toumba and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, and you are captivated by the beautiful view. If you are lucky enough to visit them at night, the walls will not disappoint you. The little lights flickering in the distance and the laughter of your friends will be the best form of therapy for you!

Painting: Soteur x «Collectif Mazi»

If there is one thing we are good at, it’s supporting our own people.

Walking through the streets of Thessaloniki, apart from the urban landscape, you will find art projects that highlights the power of life.

One of them is called “All Welcome”, which currently graces the façade of the Anticancer Hospital of Thessaloniki "Theagenio". The artist Sotiris Fokeas and refugee artists from the group “Collectif Mazi”, under the aegis of the High Commissioner, attempt to highlight the dimension of Thessaloniki as a city where the local and the refugee community coexist, think, learn and create together! Obsessing: Billie Kark - Valia Calda

Well, it’s not only this song that I want to recommend to you, but the entire album named “TZINDA” that is out on YouTube, Spotify, and other platforms.

A combination of the Music of Epirus with sounds of electronic music and other genres create sounds you may have never heard before!

The videoclip, shot in a way that showcases a side of Greece that many might not be familiar with, creates an atmosphere that keeps you addicted to the overall feeling and makes you want to not only listen to it on repeat, but also watch the videoclip with the same sentiment every time!

Reconnecting: Volunteering

Interacting with people who have the same thoughts and concerns as you, who are fighting for the common good and for a better world, makes you not only think, but also act differently.

Volunteering for us is not just a way to “reconnect”, but it is also a suggestion to you who want to help and don’t know how!

Give love and receive love! There is nothing more beautiful!

Tasting: POSTER (Paikou 1, Thessaloniki)

A choice for lovers of new flavors and of the exploration of cultures. The Greek-Palestinian chef Vasilis Chamam takes us on a tour of a new culinary culture that will certainly not leave you disappointed.

An open kitchen, fine wine, good food, a combination that will make you want to visit it not once, not twice, but several times!

So, what do you say? Off to a weekend of exploring?
