Weekly Report/ Part 5

Recommendations

Although we are in the middle of winter, our days are a bit sunnier and make the city look better than ever. Whether you are an outdoors person or prefer relaxing on your couch at home, we are here with recommendations for all tastes! Shall we explore this week’s new entries?

Reading:The Great Chimera” – M. Karagatsis

In the island of Syros in the 1920s, the sailor Yannis and Marina dance to the rhythm of love and secrets. Amidst twists and turns, conflicts with a strict mother-in-law and the cold winds of time, a compelling drama unfolds which reflects the complexity of the human soul.

Enjoying: Agora Modiano (Modiano Market)

If you are looking for a place that combines good food and Thessaloniki, Agora Modiano is here waiting for you!

Its history spreads through the centuries: built on the site of the Talmud Torah synagogue, a destructive fire burnt it to the ground in 1917 and it remained that way until its reconstruction in 1925, when it became one of the largest markets in the city, while in 2022 it became the largest food market concept in Thessaloniki.

Junk food, traditional products, a place to read, a supermarket; Agora Modiano has it all. This place, which seems to transform under the different lights of the day, is waiting for you to help you connect history with the modern world in its every corner.

Proposing: “Kuverta” [Blanket] – Xrysa Katsarini

There are nights you may spend alone, when you might feel sad and the need to escape from the infinite thoughts that sneak into your mind.

So, we suggest something that will surely make you laugh and become your escape!

On Xrysa’s Katsarini YouTube channel, you can find her “kuverta” [blanket] that will not disappoint you in the least!

Obsessing: “Waltz of The Falling Leaves” – Yannis Vakaloudis

As we were doing our usual Spotify scouting for the week, we came across Yannis Vakaloudis!

Music that carried us away, melodies and orchestrations taken from another world. The violins, the piano and the voice create a harmony that is hard to find now.

Reminiscing: Giota Nega

Giota Nega interprets and discovers the essence of methexis through her own journey. She sheds light on other circumstances in our life that are close to methexis and highlights its true form, which can only be shared with others. Her honest discovery is that methexis, without the inner play of “togetherness” and soul searching, is a difficult road!

Trying: Extravaganza (Episkopou Amvrosiou 8 & Ptolemeon 29A, Thessaloniki)

A restaurant with an industrial design and dishes destined for trained palates.

Located in one of the most prominent neighborhoods of the city center, it has come to please even the most demanding among us. Get ready, grab your friends, and go see for yourself! You’ll thank us!

Dress warmly or get in your blanket, put on festive clothes or your pajamas; it’s up to you. The city is calling you to be part of it one way or another. We put in the suggestions- it’s your turn to put your desire for discovery!
